ruby-throated hummingbird

Quick turn, did some bg work on this one in photoshop. Took advice from my photo on the critique forum. It was fun doing anyway.

Another Hummer with the new bg, trying to find the best spot on the bg. Think I might use some of the lighter areas for the bg. Shot at ISO 200, shutter speed 1/125 F 11 and 4 flashes.

They will be gone before long, getting as many shots as possible. New BG for this one. This photo not cropped.

Took this photo at 100 shutter speed, f 11, ISO 200 and four flashes I am suprised it froze the wing motion.

I was focused, or near about focused, on the facing bird. About the time I pressed the shutter I saw a green blur. The standoff began.

Not much on posting feeder shots but could not resist this one. Look below the bird in the feeder....you can see its tongue in the water.

Tried a new background. Just used a flowered pillowcase. Took some time getting the lighting set.

Had some fun tonight....changed some setting and flash power.

I was expermenting with different flash power and ISO. Think the bg is a little dark.

More experimenting. 3 flashes on the bird and one on the background. This new stuff is fun.

Trying something new. Bought a Nikon D 80, not getting rid of the D 50 though, and I think I have a learning curve. Took this shot at f 9, 1/200, ISO 100 at 300mm using the onboard flash, SB 600 and 800. Boy is it hard catching these guys at 200 shutter speed, it will sync faster with external...

The bg looks painted but it is a butterfly bush.

I had the camera set up for 2 flash system and this little girl happend to pitch out of range of the remote flash. I shot any and got about half the flash power and ended up with this photo. A bit different, huh?

Once in awhile they sit still ;)

Finally able to catch a few of the Hummers on the butterfly bush. "Bout time.
