    Normally I am not a fan of silhouette type pictures, but in this one the bird species is obvious from the location and the silhouette-a Ruddy Duck, one of the stiff tail ducks. This was taken in the predawn hours at a wildlife reserve pond near where I live in Southern California.

    I have been watching this little flock of ducks for about ten days and they are still here. They are very shy and I can't even get close in my car. This image was captured at about 50yds. I would have thought they would have moved on by this time.
