I think I've seen a Ruddy one other time, but also at a fair distance away. We may be seeing them more often than that but mistaking them for grebes with the naked eye at these kinds of distances.

When I first saw this bird I was amazed how weird it looked. Different markings for sure and I didn't think I would find a name for it! Low and behold, it did have a name...LOL! I learn something new everyday!
Here is a female Ruddy duck out of the same group that the drake was in. What I don't understand is why this group is still here in Tennessee, when their Summer range is in the Northwest, at least that is what my field guide says.
