    Ruff and Little Stint

AAP Back in the autumn of 2006 we had the first Aberdeenshire Scottish Bash - and a good one it was too. Shortly after meeting up we moved on to Meikle Loch and there I got two lifers within half an hour, this picture has one of them, the Little Stint. I think it makes a good comparison...

    Ruff and Black-tailed Godwit

AAP Ruff is another species I don't see that often (at least not in a photographical position) so pleased to get this shot. The bird on the right I think is a Black-tailed Godwit coming out of summer plumage, as the bill appears to be straight, but I stand to be corrected on this. Digiscoped...

    In the Shallows

I was able to get out again on Sunday to enjoy this young Ruff up close. This time the sun was shining and it made all the difference. She was feeding well and stayed within ~10 metres range. This young bird is the first opportunity I've had to see Ruff up close and it's been a delight |=)| The...

It don't get much closer than this....nearly full frame at 800mm at minimum focus distance (16ft)...if I'd had a smaller lens with me they would have got better as it came within 5ft...I was tempted to get my macro lens out of the bag.

    Ruff on the Run

Having declared no new photographs, I had a really 'lucky' morning yesterday with this juvenile Reeve. She just happened to fly in to the lagoon where I was standing and proceeded to feed for about an hour just within photographic range. The light wasn't great but you can't have everything (of...
