And so started my last full day in the care of Hans and Judy.
So for the final time Hans took me back to his forest waterhole and the first visitor in was the gorgeous Rufous Fantail, though he shouldn't really need any introduction by now LOL
Like his grey cousin these little Rufous Fantail is forever on the move, constantly 'fanning' their tails.
We'd moved down from the top view point to the one below at Cedar Block Picnic area; there was a footpath through the forest but we decided against that for some reason LOL.
In the car...
Although I took a couple of dawn images the next morning they're not really the best, so I'll skip them and move on to that day's visit to the forest waterhole.
One of the first arrivals was one of my pals, the delightful Rufous Fantail
If they're not flitting around they're fanning their tails, in fact they'll even try fanning their tails while they are flitting.
They're just wonderful to watch and so pretty too. Though in some poses can look very severe.
I was lucky enough to get a double here; I'm presuming they're a pair...
... fanned. But I'm sure I'll find you some later on.
These wee guys look so lovely with their tails spread out, but also quite fierce when you see them head on.
I rather fell in love with them.
These wetlands should be called drylands, even the main lake has all but dried up now and we seem to be heading into another El Nino situation so not a lot of hope of much needed rain soon
Late autumn and still 27c today
Must appologise for the quality of this shot but it's the only one I have.
Beautiful little birds but they love the shade and thickets and just won't stay still.
When this one at last offered the chance of a shot I quickly turned on the flash ,put the camera into manual mode and click I had...
A very busy bird, like hunting for small flying insects in a shady bush... Red brownish rump - tail ended in black and then white, red brownish forehead, white chin/front-neck (if I'm allowed to use these words), black spots on the chest fading to flat cream colour to the belly. Voice is very...
Looks like darting flame with its fiery rufous rump/tail. Forehead/eyebrow orange-rufous; white breast crossed by band of blackish spots.
