This is a female Rufous Whistler.
I'd photographed a male a couple of weeks before in the Flinders Ranges with Peter and Adrienne and these are the only two pictures I got of this species.
They're a long way apart from each other, aren't they.
A rather scenic drive took us up to Wilpena Pound, where there's cabins to stay in and a shop and cafe. It was time for a drink now as it seemed an awful long time since breakfast.
Wandering around the place afterwards I heard a whistle and looking up into the nearest tree found the beautiful...
This male Rufous Whistler is trying by all means to attract its partner, including singing loudly and fanning out its tail repeatedly. That allowed me to capture its 'most attractive' moment.
This is also my first ever DSLR photo. Still have alot to learn from others.
