Mouette de Sabine - Xema sabini - Sabine's Gull

never managed to see this beautiful gull in Europe, despite many hours of seawatching in Belgium and the Netherlands in my younger days. Finally saw my first ones during a Pelagic trip from Cape Town, ten years ago. This one was taken during a pelagic trip in Monterey Bay a few years later.

Sorry I should have placed all other pictures of this bird and Ringed-Billed Gull in this category, can someone change them?

Okay, if you live within 75 miles of Pennington Flash, you have to make the effort to see this bird. It's putting on an amazing display. I could only stay for half an hour and I got some fabulous captures. I make no excuse for putting three shots on of this wonderful bird.

Posted two of these in late July, still have 2 or 3 that I like. They were catching minnows right here.

There was a pair of these and I get the feeling that this is the other bird. Regardless, this one shows the "mirrors" on the wing tips, not visible in yesterday's image. Wonderful comments. Thanks.
