Also on the far side of the water was this beautiful Sacred Kingfisher.
I so rarely see Kingfishers at home (count myself lucky if I hear one as it whizzes past!!!), so a real treat to have one posing like this.
I had another wander round the grounds when the sun had emerged again and spotted this Sacred Kingfisher, firstly on an overhead wire, then down on a tree, so that's the one I'm showing you.
Was specifically chasing this bird for about two months and accidentally found him sitting 15m away from a playground where my kids were playing... Lesson learned: it is a very good thing to never leave your camera home!
Nest is built in a Termites nest in a tree. This is the second brood this season with the first safely fledged . Bringing lizards , moths etc all day so these youngsters will probably be gone in a few days time.
