This image of the Sarus crane was taken in Nepal and i found it a bit interesting how it is quiet a bit different to Australia,s cranes. The main thing i noticed was the black vent area, much lighter colour overaul and the white tail.
Indian males can attain a maximum height of approximately 200 cm (6.6 ft), with a wingspan of 250 cm (8.5 ft), making them the world's tallest living flying bird.
The famous Keoladeo National Park of Bharatpur is suffering from a drought this year. More than 90% of the birds that started to build their nests from early July, have abandoned the place to find refuge somewhere else. We came across only six of this magnificent species just outside the park.
