These birds were fairly common in Bali.

One photograph I took in Bali last year of these little birds from my hotel window.

The Scaly-breasted Munia is 11-12 cm long. The adult has a stubby dark bill, brown upperparts and darker brown head. The underparts are white with black scale markings. The sexes are similar, although males have darker markings on the underside and a darker throat.

Lately using textures on my bird photos, so thought this be a good occasion to participate. Photographed this Munia in Bali indonesia last year;

OKAY, what the hell is this bird doing in San Diego County, USA? There were actually 3 of them. in San Dieguito Park, Del Mar, CA, about 1 mile from my house. For the life of me, I could not ID. Fellow local birder, Chris Mayne did the ID because he's spent so much time in India. Big time...
