siskin carduelis spinus

A couple more pictures from Easter. This was taken at Lake Tkern where we stopped for a two days on our way home. It's been warm and sunny here in Stockholm for the past couple of days. Looks like summer may have arrived.

There were both Siskins and Redpolls bathing in a pool. I was photographing them when I suddenly noticed this Siskin right next to me.

Nice to get close to Siskins.

Very close.

But I have no idea what caught his attention.

A title I fear I've used before. :-)

2 dry birds today.

In a meadow near the "village" on Gotska Sandn they have constructed a small concrete pond in a meadow. This is the only permanent source of fresh water on the island for birds and many come there to drink and bathe. The surrounding meadow and trees also contain a lot of interesting birds.

No posts yesterday as we got up at 4 0'clock to take a boat trip to the island of Huvuskr in the archipelago. First mist then bright sunshine, though it was windy and not rather chiily. I got quite sunburned though as I stupidly forgot the suntan lotion.

It was difficult getting a clear shot through all these twigs and branches but in this case I think they actually add something to the shot.
