  6. Red Breasted Nuthatch

    Red Breasted Nuthatch

When perched in 90kph winds, it's not unexpected to see a feather or two out of place.

Red Breasted Nuthatch On The Lookout

He was still as a statue. Several other birds higher up in this tree (other nut hatches, chickadees and Blue Jays) were also. All their heads were pointed in more or less the same direction. An unseen hawk must have been lurking near.

    Another Nuthatch Image

Still the one I photographed a few days ago but probably not an irruption that I was hoping for

Had this fella drop in for a visit today. Haven't seen one for a while. Glad it remembered me.

    Red-breasted Nuthatch and no reports

8 years ago from tomorrow, an irruption started with these Nuthatches so I wonder if another irruption is under it's way. If so, be prepared for a few more images of these guys/gals.

This guy will practically land on my head when I'm holding a peanut butter jar. However close he is though, getting a photo of him is difficult because he's so tiny, so very quick, and never stops moving for long.
