I know this is quite common in Europe and China, but not too often seen in Hong Kong. So I would like to share this pic while I had a chance to meet a pair there. But I don't know if it is an Oriental or Eurasian Skylark. I guess it is the former.

Every time I see a Skylark this French children's song comes to my mind but I can bet this is not what this Skylark is singing, I doubt it would like to have its feathers plucked out, as the song says! :-O
I thought I'd try and be different by posting a pic of a passerine(Unintentional illiteration!)... (Plus I don't have any Ospreys, my other raptor shots suck and my trip to Bempton had the wind keeping the gannets away from the cliff tops so no point trying to compete with the excellent images...
I wish this skylark had let me tiptoe just a few fenceposts closer, but there we are. I zoomed in as close as I could. According to last weekend's Guardian, although there are still a couple million skylarks in the UK, their number has fallen by over 50% in 3-4 decades. Alarming!
Not such a good shot,very sunny,and plumage is somewhat"blown",but does show the eye detail of this bird.I keep comparing it with the eye of the Swallow.Very deep,dark and round,whereas this bird does have a pronounced almond shape.

One of our coastguards took me for a drive up the shillah(beach),we were looking for Natterjack spawn and checking out some illegal digging on the shoreline and dunes,which could mean that in a 1000yrs,our little village could be swept away by by the Irish sea !!!.
