I knew it was going to be an awful day weatherwise today, so I set myself a challenge to capture the 'awfulness' of the day.
I went up to Filey for a reported Garganey (which I couldn't find), but I did spot this snipe skulking on the waters edge.
The day was a mixture of hail and snow showers...
This and a few other Snipe came from the waters edge right up next to the hide, then looked up and all turned around and disappeared as quickly as they come.
These two seemed to be doing some sort of bonding, not sure about any "courtship" or pairing in December, no mating took place but some sort of relationship seemed evident.
For lack of 100% ID, I'm calling these the common variety.
