A pair of snow buntings making the most of additional seed from one of the friendly locals. Pretty much full frame, taken lying down on some rather damp ground!
One from a weekend in Norfolk, taken at Salthouse, whilst lying down with these colourful characters. Bit of a fluke moment to catch it doing this!
Minor crop to compose better - almost full frame.
These Snow Buntings came unexpectedly close - something else to learn: the 1.4x converter is not always needed! Ended up with rather a lot of cramped photos, so I tried a different crop. I think it works - opinions welcome!
The first day out with my new lens, sunrise on Titchwell beach and I found a small flock of Snow Buntings that stuck around just long enough for a few shots.
Taken a few days ago. I've been back three times since, including this morning but they appear to have departed. Mostly likely they're heading south along the coast looking for somewhere to over winter.
57 of them this morning in much brighter conditions than on my last visit. Very skittish today feeding for a few minutes rising up en-masse before settling again to feed.
First shots of Snow Buntings for me.These birds are very obliging letting you get within 6 feet without flinching but the trouble is they they are always on the move, they never stay still for more than a split second.
