I cannot get this to be a different species even with the black feet and the aberrant colors of neck and tail. It somehow looks too regular and in the wrong place to be staining?

The snowy egret is already a lovely bird, with the white feathers offset by black legs and bill, with bright yellow feet and lore. But during breeding season, they really turn it on with the long whispy feathers on the back, neck, and head, and the lore and feet take on a deep orange to red color
This Snowy Egret was fishing in a drainage canal that fed into the river. The environment is pretty muddy and mucky (most of the soil in the valley here is adobe clay), but it still reflects the sun in bright, white streaks on the egret's belly.
