My literature shows this one as Egretta thula, I saw the same bird, with yellow feet, posted by RJL2005, as Egretta garzetta. Can someone explain it to me?
Oh, by the way, this is the first "flying shot" that I have the nerve to show anyone.
There are no end of these common birds. This one was having an altercation with another egret. It landed in this agitated state so I took advantage of it.
Watching these seemingly elegant birds fish is, if nothing, an exercise in patients. They stand with neck extended, bill in the water. They seem motionless until you look at the bill. The bird vibrates the bill at a constant, fast rate. What this does, I do not know. But, as I sat there suddenly...
This was taken in the morning around the salt ponds in the inner bay where a whole flock these snowy egret were trying to catch fishes. I found this one interesting. Let me know what you think.
Was taking this pic of the Egret at Henderson Bird Viewing Area in Las Vegas then noticed that there was also some Redheads, some American Coots and an Avocet in the pic.
