Spotted this during my morning walk a short time ago. This guy looks like he's saying, "For Pete's sake, take the picture will ya? I can't hold this pose forever!!"
We had a heavy snowfall. This Song Sparrow was waiting for a couple Blue Jays to vacate where I had spread some seeds so he could slip in and have a few.
I was making a pile of old metal objects to put out to be picked up for recycling, including an old broken down bike. Of course as soon as I put it out this Song Sparrow had to come take a look to see what was going on.

A study in indecision. It hung like this for a good 10 or 15 seconds targeting something down below. After that whatever it was must not have been what this bird thought it was, as the sparrow straightened up then went elsewhere.
Have several in the yard every day. Gotta love them. My only gripe with them is they are very territorial toward other sparrows. It's funny because they will totally ignore similar sized birds like Chickadees, warblers and nuthatches, but they will aggressively chase away white throated...
