    Song sparrow?

This one, I think is a song sparrow. There was such a number and variety of sparrows and waders at the preserve that day that I'll have to go back and watch them some more, but I don't think I'll get back there this week. Too much work to do.

I had to get help with the id of this one as North American sparrows are still a challenge for me.

    New Bird for the Yard

I'm pretty sure this is a Song Sparrow, if so it is a new bird to the backyard for me. I have a hard time id'ing sparrows, so hopefully I'm right.

Much of the landscape is barren, dessicated and wind scoured. But, in one small cleft of a hill-side there is this patch of verdent green. It means only one thing...water. From withing the depths of the rock and soil a spring has struggled it's way to the surface and created this small oasis...

I love these sweet birds. They seem to travel in mixed flocks with the Juncos and White-throated Sparrows but I've only seen two or three together at a time. They don't seem to form large flocks like the Juncos do. I've been pretty busy the last couple weeks and was teaching a painting seminar...

As the Hermit Thrush, this was taken through double pane glass window.. it pays to keep the window clean, and perches close to the house.

I love these sweet little Sparrows! I have three of them coming into the feeders with my mixed group of Sparrows and Juncos every day now. Most of the other Sparrows will roost hidden in the shrubs when taking a break from feeding but the Song Sparrows sometimes find a spot right out in the open...

    Living Dangerously

This bird is living beneath the Falcon's box. Life in the Falcon-zone is very risky.

Well I can certainly see where these birds got their names from....what beautiful songs they sing! I took a quick gander at a little wildlife management area that I don't normally go to, and the sounds and songs of these sparrows filled the air! Difficult to see, though, as the early morning...

I may be wrong but I think this is a Song Sparrow. The habitat was right - in the brush by ponds.

Presenting images. There are numerous rules that have been researched and suggested for the presentation of images. For some purists, they are all but immutable, and must be adhered to. I do not hold with this. They are, for my intent, guidelines. All images will have elements inherent in them...

Shutter speed is entirely too slow. It is evident in the fact that the image is not sharp.
