Southern Screamer (Chauna torquata) Sexes similar. South Wild, south of Pocon, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Pantanal (wetlands) and Cerrado adjacent to Pixaim River at ca. 128 m (420 ft) elevation.

What would you call baby screamers? Screamerlings, screamettes, screamerkins ?? Either way they are in training to be LOUD!

To go with the shot of the male I posted yesterday. And, yes, she's just as loud!

Southern Screamer ... nobody ever needs to ask how it got it's name!

Not a good shot, but posting it for size comparison. The Lapwing isn't a small bird, but compared to the Screamer he's tiny :eek!:

One adult (in front) and two lanky juveniles. I took a couple dozen shots of a flock of these on a farm field in the semi-distance. I think this was probably my best shot.
