    SPARROW HAWK

Although I have not seen my friend here each time he visits the evidence on the ground is clear to see. This time I was in my hide as he arrived. So nice to have a resident Sparrow Hawk in your garden, makes for some very good photos.

Look up to the sky and see. Old faithful came down again last evening and I was not prepared. Opening the window and trying to put the lens through the camo net without him flying away was not easy. Nor was the fact that I had to hand hold the camera for some 25 minutes, but not bad even with...

    American Kestrel

I love this bird. I followed this one around for a bit, but could not get a clear shot. Finally made the best of this view. There were branches between us from every angle. Also, very cool to see, but wish I could have captured it. While I was fumbling with my focus, another kestrel knocked...

I am guessing this is the same little guy I snagged previously. Conditions were slightly better this time, but still very gray. No wind, to speak of, so that was better. Watched him for awhile. I would like to be a falconer, just for the fun of having one of these guys perched on my finger.

    sparrow hawk

I know I have shown photos of this Sparrow Hawk before but he is one of my favourites. Clever, cunning he is, now hiding inside the log feeder for sometimes as long as one hour. From my house I cannot see him but the other birds tell me without doubt he is there. I can only see him if i am in my...
