Another threatening pose from the young female; Squirrels were both getting a bit too close to her. I've uploaded this in another thread, but I want to add it to my gallery.
Through the double glazing etc
I've loads of defensive poses from this young female, so here's another pic.
Through the double glazing and poor light as usual. So the same high ISO and 1/20th shutter as the last pic I uploaded
...well she looks like a Dragon to me ;) Young female Sparrowhawk making herself look fierce for the two Squirrels that kept pestering her yesterday.
Through the double glazing as usual, only managed 1/20th second shutter even at ISO 800, so poor light again
This female turned up this afternoon and killed one of the Pigeons that I've been feeding for a few months. The Pigeon's feet were damaged from being tangled up in anti-roost netting for too long. It took ages for him to stand almost normally (he kept laying down), and now he's been eaten alive...
I think the other male that I jokingly called Fred died; this one can be "Fred 2" for now ;)
I was watching him hunt Mice in the garden the other day; he's not the least bit bothered by my presence. I suspect he's been watching me fill the feeders, and using me as a distraction before...
I've a few of these that I intended to upload, but I might give them a rest until I get him perched on my shoulder like Mali wanted ;)
Like the last shot; I was outside beneath the tree looking almost straight up, and the Pigeons thought my camera was another place to perch for food ;)
After letting me watch and photograph him posing for twenty minutes, he decided it was time for a meal. He spent the whole time scanning the tree anyway, but it took twenty minutes for one of the Sparrows to break cover. He hopped and flew towards it in an instant; fortunately the Sparrow's last...
I've loads of different poses/expressions of this male from Friday, as he wasn't troubled by me watching him. I've even got some pics of him feeding in my trees, which I took in the garden.
Through the double glazing and poor light, so high ISO and slow shutter speed
A male that's been picking off the Chaffinches and Sparrows the last few days, well one of each species.
Through the double glazing and high ISO (800) and slow (1/40th) shutter speed as usual
Well Peeps,
Post and run from me this morning...I'm bussing it to Rye Harbour, need to make the most of our last day of summer, LOL. I will catch up with y'all later
this chappy has been through my garden a couple of times a day recently, this time it got a young starling,
i even managed to open the window and get some pic's without it flying off.
Good day for Sparrowhawks yesterday, but a bad day for juve Starlings. Two successful attacks by two different adult females; although I'll need to check they was separate birds later.
Through the double glazing as usual, but this bird is used to me now, so I can lean close to the window; still...
