Taking us back to 1975,this Spotted Harrier was taken at very close range as it hovered above.

This bird was hunting alongside the road just North of Cue in WA.I stopped the car ,grabbed the camera and it circled around me ! Very obliging!

Quartering over the grasses late in the afternoon

This was a real bonus! It had never been recorded at Laratinga Wetlands before, and I've only ever seen one before in my 20 years in Australia, so to get a reasonable photo into the bargain was very gratifying!

A juvenile bird I photographed yesterday afternoon.

Not a common species in Sydney, they are a bird of the open fields west of the Great Dividing Ranges. However, they do turn up just about every year. This year, they are everywhere around Penrith at least.
