Another one of this heron. Eyes are on bean stalks. I think this Heron was introduced to the hotel pond.

    Up periscope

Squacco Herons look very different when they stretch their necks. Almost comically out of proportion.

Closest I got to a Squacco

... but not the sharpest shot I got. Oh well. Still a decent shot, I think.

    Where's everybody goin'?

Squacco in the water lilies - full frame

This time not a crop of the previous shot, just a closer shot of the same bird, taken as the boat moved closer. Thanks all for your well wishes. Feeling fine now. Busy day at work. Now enjoying a cuppa tea while I post and browse BF |=)|

    Squacco and Water lilies

We saw loads of Squacco Herons every day we were on the delta. This one was prettily perched among some yellow water lilies

    Yesterday's Squacco, cropped closer

Every once in a while, a shot seems even sharper when cropped. Must be an illusion, but this one turned out ok.

    Squacco Heron in the rapids

Now we're getting somewhere |=)| I actually wish I'd got some shots of these flying. They're really stunning with their peach-colored backs lighting up between bright white wings. But I was pretty pleased with this shot as well, not to mention the three even better ones I'll be posting tomorrow...
