Adult in non-breeding plumage. They are believed to be free ranging birds either from the Singapore Zoological Gardens or Jurong Bird Park. Settings: 1458mm ISO160 1/500s f/6.6 0EV. The other bird is an Intermediate or Yellow-billed Egret.
This photo was taken near Mortagne on the Gironde estuary on the 22nd August. There are over 50 birds in this flock, gathering to migrate south to Africa. Storks have been successfully re-introduced to the Gironde area in recent years, estimated now at 300-400 breeding pairs each year.
Yesterday I saw that the Storks have taken their position on the nest. Not easy to get close to them as they feel easily disturbed while looking for food.I'll get better pictures in a couple of months.
