    Mr at last

The final species I got a picture of that day was, finally, the male Superb Fairywren, I'd been hunting for him all the way round! Then it was off back to Adelaide to prepare for the next adventure! Total Lifer's at the end of this day 188.

There's fairies at the bottom of the garden

.... sooo further along that large bush, was a pretty lady Superb Fairywren. Wonder if there's a male around somewhere?
  6. Oooh he's here too

    Oooh he's here too

In the same stretch of reeds as the swallow, I saw a Superb Fairywren who really didn't make life easy trying to get a picture!! This was the best I could do really, the rest are all SF worthy LOL. For those who don't know, this was the species that started off my travel plans to Australia...
  7. Mrs joined him

    Mrs joined him

The female Superb Fairywren was also out on the grass at the back and had obviously found something nice to eat. TTTW
  8. On the lawn

    On the lawn

I'd gone into my bedroom for something and spotted this Superb Fairywren pecking around on the grass at the back of the house. Just managed to get a picture of him TTW.
  9. Mr in the rain

    Mr in the rain

It took some time after his wife had appeared before the male decided to show his face... and he waited until it was raining. Perhaps he wanted a shower LOL
  10. New mummy?

    New mummy?

A female Superb Fairywren popped out with a beak full of insects she'd collected. Obviously now heading for her nest. Isn't she sweet.

    Is the coast clear?

Just before the sun went right down, I'd made my way back to the garden and spotted this sweetheart peeking out of one of the shrubs. Adorable.
  12. Not so forward

    Not so forward

... as his lady. He kept himself in the shade around the shrubbery. I still got to see his beautiful blue colours though.
  13. Sweetheart

    Sweetheart

Maybe not so colourful as her hubby, but I still thinks she's gorgeous. The sun had come out and so did the Fairywrens, emerging from the garden shrubs where they nest.
  14. A free shower

    A free shower

The Double-barred Finch was having such fun in the water dish, the female Superb Fairywren didn't need to get in, she got wet enough LOL

We then moved on to Sandy Camp Road Wetlands, and just as we were entering the are, spotted movement in a hedge which turned out to be a wee female Superb Fairywren. Nice start.

    My little beauty

The path was lined with bushes and shrubs on both sides. Unfortunately this wee fairywren had the light coming from the wrong direction, but you can still see what he is fortunately.
  18. What a surprise

    What a surprise

Ken left me sitting in the shade while he went to investigate another path to see if anything was happening there. Suddenly I spotted a movement.... something had landed in the grass just feet from me. Flash of blue.... tiny! Grab camera and start clicking. I couldn't believe it - the main...

Or (again) at least I think that's which one this is. We saw both Superbs and Variegateds, according to my hostess Marie Lister, whose expertise I trust when it comes to Sydney area birds. But back to uncertainty ... It's hard to tell the fairywrens apart when they're not in breeding plumage...

I've been busy for a few weeks editing some video I took of a concert, which is very time-consuming. This was the highlight of the concert - worth watching for this lady's amazing voice! Should be finished in a few days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c3NLLoldFo&t=6s

Still tied up with the CD, and next week we're off to Madagascar for a few weeks, so apologies for lack of comments. I'll make up for it once we get back.
