    We saw a flock of about 50 of these on the beach, which I was told is quite unusual.

    The first sight of Surf Bird this season and only 4 seen. For the pass 2 years, a flock of around a hundred was seen in Iona jetty in early Dec. They stay for only a few days. This year they are late, may be too cold.
