This was taken at 840mm hand held with my little SX40 P&S - not too bad considering the tiny sensor (less that 6mm) and the fact that it was shot at ISO 800.

My first bird photo since arriving in France, one week ago. It's been quiet on the birding front and the swallows have been keeping quite high in the sky. However, this one perched on the TV aerial for some while last evening, giving itself a good old preen. Not the best of angles to take this...
