I had a fantastic day today at Burton Mere Wetlands and took loads of great shots. I don't feel guilty at sharing three shots of the same event. I watched the parents fly to and throw feeding the three juveniles for over an hour literally within touching distance. It was a humbling experience...

Two Barn Swallows on left, two Cliff Swallows on right. I'm pretty sure they are all juvies. Only a couple more weeks and they will be starting on their long trip south.

i always try to capture the local swallows and swifts in flight and fail but today saw these young swallows perched on a tree and parent came into feed so its nearly a flight shot.and what a mouth they have could nearly swallow the parent.aptly named i think.

When I look at the photos of swallows I took on that day, I wish I had used my monopod because i was struggling with the weight of my camera and lens.

This pair of Barn Swallows was guarding the nest they had built on a house that my cousins had rented on Deep Creek Lake in Swanton, Maryland. The pair flew around us for a while, then perched on the roof of the adjacent house to observe us. Female on left, male on right (I think).
