These Teal just seem to be sucking up the wet mud.
More or less an overhead view from the Holden Tower.
After sprinkling some seed around for the buntings, it didn't take long for a few of the local teals to waddle over for a closer look. The colours on the male's head are beautiful in the sunshine.
Pretty much full frame, taken whilst lying down.
There are some birds that you virtually never see close - and when you do catch them they can disappear before the camera is ready!
[It's taken me two years to work out how to upload three pictures at once. It's about as user-friendly as Sparrowhawks are vegetarian!]
A Teal bathed in the golden afternoon sunshine at Minsmere on Sunday. I waited ages for it to turn its head so the light could illuminate the green patch but it never happened. This is the the best shot I could get. Ron
