Sandwich (Cayenne) tern? Aruba, December 2023

This particular tern (immature/non breeding plumage?) was at Baby beach, Aruba with several hundred royal and sandwich terns. The size is smaller than a royal tern, almost similar to the sandwich terns nearby with the yellow and black bill. I went through what I could find on Eurasian, Cabott...

    Terns ID - Singapore

I have a bunch of photos which I believe are a mix of little / white-winged / and hopefully whiskered terns. But I am not 100% sure how to distinguish them, especially the whiskered from the little terns, in non-breeding/juvenile plumage. (The white-wingeds are perhaps more distinguishable based...

    Tern sp., Guangxi, China

Observed this tern flying over an inland river in Western Guangxi province in June. Terns in general here are not often seen in this area, as it is quite far inland. I previously have seen Whiskered Tern in the area a couple times, but this bird I think may be a different species. Photos were...

Roseate Tern? (Dutch coast, 13th of May 2023)

Am I right thinking Roseate Tern here? Pictures taken 4 days ago on an evening beach near Noordwijk, Netherlands. I took many images, and its bill was unmistakably black. Whereas the bills of the large number of surrounding Common Terns where all clearly red (with black tips). (Possibly 2...

Not sure entirely what the small one is, I'm fairly certain it's a Forster's but I'm not sure. It was the only one in a large group of 50+ Royal Terns. Any ideas?

Juvenile Little Tern. 6 weeks ago there were no chicks, the adults had only just arrived, and now they have loads of chicks, all out hunting for themselves. A remarkably quick breeding season. Taken froma a good way off to avoid disturbance and getting pooed on by adults :D

Little Terns on Winterton Beach. The birds om the ground were going through the mating ritual of trying to impress the female with sandeels (she was unimpressed) when the other tern flew in low. Pure chance I was shooting at a high shutter speed.
