    Not the 'Scottish' one

    Last of the plants on that stretch was a thistle, but not the one I know as the Scottish Thistle. Though I don't know which one this is. There's another plant beside it, but I don't know which one this is either. Not sure if it is still to flower, or if the flowers have finished.

    Not sure what species of thistle this is, but then it wasn't the species as such I was trying to capture with this shot. It was the geometry of those blossom buds that caught my eye and imagination.

    Ok, I confess this is one of those out-the-back-door feeder photos, but the "expression" on this goldfinch's face is just too hilarious not to share. Educational value: both American and Lesser goldfinches are present in the photo: compare!
