  1. Enjoying the sun

    Enjoying the sun

He was wise to make the most of it as 'miserable May' was just round the corner! TTTW
  2. First for a while

    First for a while

My most common corvid to the garden is the Jackdaw, with occasional visits by crows. Rooks are a long way behind, so nice to see one descend for a change. Incidentally I've had a couple of Magpies visible from my flat but no Jays as yet! TTTW
  3. He seems to like it here

He seems to like it here

The Siskins continued to make regular visits to the feeders through April. It's still such a novelty for me, I just can't resist taking photos of them. Here's the male on his own. TTTW
  4. Better check....

    Better check....

..... before I turn my back!! I don't seem to have seen a Chaffinch at the feeder for a while, so it was nice to see her back. TTTW
  5. Headless

    Headless

I'm really not sure what this was, I don't have a before or after picture to go on. Frustrating though, as I was obviously pretty well focused on his perch LOL Dunnock or sparrow,.... dunno.... my money's on Dunny at the mo. TTTW
  6. The moment before.....

    The moment before.....

.... the off. Is there such a movement known as a Dove Dive LOL. He more or less just 'dropped' down to the grass below, where there was more food awaiting. TTTW
  7. So much food

    So much food

I don't think this Robin knew where to start LOL. You may notice the fancy feed tray. Well.... we'd had a terrific gale blowing for a couple of days and it blew the feeder off and it took me a few days to find it. So I had to search the house for something the right size to use. Set me...
  8. And the Mrs came too

    And the Mrs came too

A few days later and II was so thrilled to discover there was a pair of these pretty Siskins. He kindly brought her to feed at my new restaurant (well I call it new - It's actually been there nearly 2 years now). TTTW
  9. Becoming a regular

    Becoming a regular

After years of only seeing an occasional Siskin (usually 1 day in the autumn), a couple descended in the early spring and continue to come in. This is the male. I'm guessing they have a nest somewhere nearby. TTTW
  10. Resident Woody

    Resident Woody

I have a pair of Wood Pigeons here, just sometimes they're joined by two or three others, which causes a bit of display and consternation. This guy is on sentry duty I think! TTTW
  11. They sure get their timings right

They sure get their timings right

My local Jackdaws really seem to know when I put the feed out now, as they're ready and waiting and generally the first to come down. Well, that was the case in March, when I took this picture, now the Starlings have finally fledged it's them.... in huge numbers LOL TTTW
  12. Not related at all

    Not related at all

I don't often manage to catch the Dunnock, so delighted when one pops onto the shed roof and stays long enough for a picture. The Chaffinch seemed to be a bit surprised to see him too. TTTW
  13. Surrounded by food

    Surrounded by food

I get quite a lot of Jackdaws visiting nowadays, for years it was just an occasional visitor, now there's up to 5 of them. One of them has now found my tray feeder and ends up chucking the seeds all over the place! Yet to catch him on camera doing it though. TTTW
  14. Changing channels (SF)

    Changing channels (SF)

I don't seem to show you pictures of my Jackdaws very often; they've been a bit nervie, so don't take well to any movement. Got this one walking across the neighbours old television aerial.
  15. Little did I know...

    Little did I know...

When I showed you that picture of the Siskin a while ago I never dreamed that he'd be back... and back with a partner. They came in daily for weeks and are still around, so I guess you'll be seeing a few more pictures yet. I'm presuming they've a nest somewhere nearby so maybe... maybe...
  16. A rare garden visit

    A rare garden visit

A couple of days before this I thought I'd caught a glimpse of one, but the view was so brief I wasn't sure, with my eyes still recovering from the op and new specs on order. Siskins have been a very occasional autumn visitor up till now when this female and another dropped in, the first I'd...
  17. Snow fun 2 (SF)

    Snow fun 2 (SF)

The shot immediately before this, the Blackbird had buried his head completely in the snow and this was the result when he lifted. Of course I didn't notice at the time of shooting, it was only when I was looking through the folder later. Hope it amuses you as much as it did me when I first...
  18. Returnee

    Returnee

I'd not seen a Collared Dove in the garden for some weeks, until I spotted this guy in the neighbour's tree. Obviously the cold spell brought him back. TTTW
  19. VTOL (SF)

    VTOL (SF)

I guess you've heard of Vertical Take Off and Landing... well this is the vertical take off bit. Just as I pressed the shutter of course. The black outline is my window frame. TTTW
  20. Relaxing

    Relaxing

... and all fluffed up against the cold. For it was very cold in mid-February. The snow which had fallen a few days before was now solid and sticking hard to the shed roof behind this tree. TTTW
  21. Big Boss?

    Big Boss?

Is he going to be the one to father most of the youngsters this year? I'd not seen a sparrow in a photographable place for quite a while. Now that's not an over-exposed background, it's snow on a roof behind him. TTTW
  22. You spoke?

    You spoke?

She was heading for the tube feeder that I'd re-positioned to the 'new perch' branch. Couldn't resist that inquisitive look! TTTW
  23. Resting

    Resting

Another visit from this lovely Fieldfare. I was really beginning to feel honoured that he kept returning (even though it isn't really 'my' tree LOL) TTTW
  24. Black in the white

    Black in the white

Quite deep snow on the shed roof and this Jackdaw had been digging around in it for any titbits. You can just see some snow still on his bill. TTTW
  25. Dropped it

    Dropped it

Having buried his face in the snow and retrieved that seed, he promptly dropped it!
