  1. Dunnock

    Dunnock

I was wrong... I did have another bird last week; this one. First he settled on the corner of the shed roof, but by the time I'd got the camera and focused there, he'd hopped down to the fence post, then hopped down to the ground before I could catch him. This picture was taken looking down...
  2. Dunnock

    Dunnock

Another attempt at a Dunnock shot by leaning out of the window. I wish they'd come and pose on the fence post or something! Everyone else seems to get pictures of them like that! TMLIMHS
  3. Dunnock

    Dunnock

Oh well, not the best pic I've taken but it's the only one I've got of a Dunnock. I'd heard it singing, so knew there was one around. I was having to lean far out of my window at great risk to myself;) to get this, and he kept wandering in and out from under the hedge. Perhaps I should be more...
  4. Oooh! Is this really peanuts?

    Oooh! Is this really peanuts?

They're definitely beginning to come back, but they're lucky there's any feeders for them after they got blown off the window during the recent gales.
  5. Dunnock

    Dunnock

A couple of times today a Dunnock has sat on the beech hedge and given a brief burst of song. He didn't hang around for long but I managed a few pictures of him. I was quite pleased to get the pictures, as I've only seen him in very shady areas up to now.
  6. Bluey's not too sure about this

Bluey's not too sure about this

I decided to move the fat ball and, as you can see it's now hanging just above the otter ornament. This Blue Tit has a few little pecks around the peanuts too. I seem to have got rid of the 'vandals' by moving to the window when they appeared, or taking the feed tray in. They've food on the...
  7. Waiting patiently (I thought)

    Waiting patiently (I thought)

This youngster sat on the fence for a while as if waiting to be fed, so I kept clicking away in the hope an adult would come, but no such luck. Talking of blackies, there's been no sign of the one with white feathers for about a week now. The other one is constantly at the feeder, going off...
  8. Togetherness

    Togetherness

My goodness what wind and rain we had today, the feeder tray fell to the ground (unscathed fortunately) and eventually I had to take the nut feeder in as it was banging against the other feeder! However, for a short time the sun did come out and I grabbed this shot through the window.
  9. Why couldn't it use the perch??

Why couldn't it use the perch??

So I got my self a new feeder - for peanuts this time! It'd not been there long when a Blue Tit decided to investigate, and made several visits, but would it/they sit on one of the perches. The feeder swings a lot, so getting sharp pictures might prove a bit tricky LOL. There might be a new...
  10. Feed Me!

    Feed Me!

Well, at least I presume it's a fledgling doing the wing fluttering feed me act! A lot of flying backwards and forwards to the nest I showed you yesterday. I thought once they'd left that was it. Edit: Huh! of course that isn't a baby, as per Chris's comment! Didn't have my thinking hat on. So...
  11. The Dribbler

    The Dribbler

This is how the window gets covered in droplets! I'm sure no-one believed me and just thought I had dirty windows;)
  12. Satellite Robin

    Satellite Robin

I had to go and clean the window as it keeps getting spotted with drops of water when the birds lift the meal worms up. There's two satellite dishes on the wall and Mr Robin seems to sit there sometimes before flying up to the feeder, so I got a piccie of him. For once no glass was in the way...
  13. I've bent me ciggy

    I've bent me ciggy

The birds were desperate for their mealworms this morning. They were diving in before I'd shut the window. The good news is that a House Sparrow has ventured up to the window sill today a couple of times, so it probably won't be long now till he finds the feeder proper. Couldn't resist showing...
  14. Robin at feeder

    Robin at feeder

The Robin has been making constant visits the last few days and going off with beakfulls of meal worms. It's looking like he's got a nest of youngsters somewhere. The Coal Tit hasn't been back for a bath for 2 days now. And I still find it odd that none of the other tits avail themselves of...
  15. Aaargh I dropped it!

    Aaargh I dropped it!

The water bath has a small flat-topped stone at the edge where I put a few meal worms. The Blue Tit had obviously knocked one off and was trying to retrieve it. This is one of the pictures I 'lost' the other day when I'd forgotten to put the card in - Chris kindly put me on the right road to...
  16. And sometimes there's two

    And sometimes there's two

A couple of days ago two Blue Tits landed on the feeder and it looked like one was feeding the other - it only lasted a second and I didn't get a picture. But here they are on top of the bath, but it looks more like they're having an argument. I was quite pleased to catch the moment.
  17. Bluey having a drink (or had one)

Bluey having a drink (or had one)

Well, the Coal Tit returned (about 3 times) and really had a lovely bath each time. He soaked the window so photos becamed increasingly blurred, but I got some good ones to start with. Then I got Memory Full... er... I'd forgotten to put the card in and I can't retrieve them (no download cable)...
  18. Blue Tit on window feeder

    Blue Tit on window feeder

Well this should put a stop to KC nagging me:-O ***f8**** AP. 1/50 sec 0 EV For those of you that understand these things - which I don't really. Anyway it was very bright and sunny, and he'd just grabbed a mealworm out of the water. It was a shame this morning - the first Coal Tit for...
  19. To stop KC from nagging....

    To stop KC from nagging....

.... well maybe a little;) This one is AP at F6.3, again through the window. It wasn't quite so sunny today. D
