Following this mornings post of Mrs Tufty, here it the partner. Again this was shot with stacked 1.4x and 2x tc.

I shot exclusively with stacked converters yesterday at the the local pond. Very nice light allowed me to get some half decent shots with the combo.

The adult male is all black except for white flanks and a blue-grey bill. It has an obvious head tuft that gives the species its name. The adult female is brown with paler flanks, and is more easily confused with other diving ducks. In particular, some have white around the bill base which...

Not quite sure how I managed to digiscope a bird and compose the shot at the same time but I'm glad I did. This is virtually full frame you see.

The Ferruginous Duck is believed to be the "Dorney bird". It has more black on it's bill than you would expect, and is likely to have had a captive origin.

I like Tufted Ducks. They always look so happy and friendly. I think they should give counselling classes to Greenfinches. This pair seems to be enjoying the sunshine on the scrape at Minsmere. Ron
