Turkey Vulture
The turkey vulture, also known in some North American regions as the turkey buzzard, and in some areas of the Caribbean as the John crow or carrion crow, is the most widespread of the New World vultures.
our daily Turkey Vulture. They truly are a daily sight in Northern California. Black Phoebes are a close second. I think there were a couple of days those three weeks that I didn't see a Black Phoebe.
I kind of like these guys especially when dozens are flying over my yard every afternoon heading for their roosting spot at the intracoastal waterway. This one surprised the hell out me when it landed on my fence. Must have been a dead squirrel/animal around.

is definitely a dominant feature of the California airways. Daytime TV, that is. Turkey Vultures roost at night. But I don't think I ever see a daytime sky without at least one TV (aka TUVU) somewhere overhead - near or far, circling, rising on a thermal, cruising by sniffing for carrion, or...
