We had a great time visiting my dad in Scotland. And the weather was much better than expected. There was some rain but mostly it was dry and we even had some sunshine. Not bad for the west coast of Scotland at the beginning of November. :-) The biggest birding surprise of the trip was a flock...

    Mostly Twites

There's at least one juvenile Greenfinch. My wife like this for some reason. Really just a record shot. It was very frustrating to see a whole flock of Twites and not succeed in getting close to any of them. It was still nice to see them though.

A first for me, great little birds, always on the move! Anyone know what the plant is?

    Thoughtful Twite

The last Twite post and more conventional than yesterday's but I like yesterday's better.

    Twite right?

In the end I got some shots where the twigs became a sort of misty background that isolated the birds. These are the ones I like best. I haven't blurred anything just sharpened the bits that were already sharp.

    Twite in the light

Not the best from the session but I thought I'd better show that they did occasionally come out into the open.

After the owl we stopped off at rstafltet to look for Twites and found a small flock. Third time lucky I think. They were very tolerant but were mostly obscured by lots of twigs. Those who like shots with lots of twigs in them are in fro a treat. :-)
