ulysses butterfly

(Papilio ulysses), an unmistakable butterfly with brilliant electric blue upper wings, trimmed in black. We have been up to the Daintree in Far North Queensland, partly for Ed's health and partly to have a holiday. The B&B we were staying at had these in their garden.

Magnificent Ulysses butterfly. These guys are so hard to photograph, they never seem to stay still long enough. Their colour is so amazingly electric that it looks fake. We have masses of them fluttering around our garden at the moment as it is peak breeding season.
