saved the best for last, while we were chasing birds here and there in that beautiful area, we use to go back to rest every now and then, during the rest times this and its mate would come so close that one of the girls was able to get nice video with here phone.

My first Hoopoe in the Kaiserstuhl area in Germany.
You can hear them regularly in that area, and you even can see the Hoopoe in the distance.
It was a long walk in the Kaiserstuhl area and almost without luck, until, finally one sat down
on a post close to us calling. We were so lucky.

I was able to record the strange sound of an alarmed Hoopoe (Upupa epops),
also called "March cockerel". I had never heard of it. Obviously, it is a specimen in migration.
While about 100 hoopoes are recorded in the UK, every year, very few get blown off course as far north and west as Northern Ireland, so when one was spotted in Comber, only a 40 minutes drive from our house, I had to go to try to see it. At first he was way down the bottom of a farm lane and...
but this time form my garden.
went out to put water in the plates for birds, and found it looking at me, so down to earth and started to take shot, it was so friendly, enjoyed taking shots, until one of the laughing doves decided to come and check what he is doing, after a few mints it flew...
