Trying to identify this little flycatcher. Seen in open ground on top of cacti in Chapultepec II Park. wondered if it was a juvenile vermillion flycatcher? Thanks :)
This was listed as observed down near San Diego when I was there Fall 2013. I didn't catch up with him then, though, so extra glad to have seen one on my Argentina adventure. Rather distant, but identifiable. I note that the Latin name means "Firehead", which does seem to fit ;)
A Vermillion Flycatcher (Pyrocephalus rubinus) can be seen from the distance, as it basks in the day's first light and stands out in the wetlands of Campeche, Mexico.

We have a number of vermillion flycatchers in this area. I've never been able to get a decent picture of one until today. And then I was able to add this to the other.
This female vermillion flycatcher was posing outside our hotel window in Lima.Just as we left for the airport going home the male arrived and posed - with all the camera gear packed away . Typical!
