  1. Lesser coucal

    Lesser coucal

A Lesser coucal perching on an open branch. I was riding on my motorbike when I passed by something brown and black on an open tree. I turned around and pulled out my trusty 7D II, took a few shots and got this. It's my first encounter with the species too.

What specific Prinia species were these? - Khanh Hoa, Vietnam

I recently captured some close-ups of these Prinias in a foothill forest. I'm not familiar with the Prinias in general so I'm not sure if all of these even belong to the same species. My quick research pointed to either Brown Prinia, Plain Prinia, or the Vietnam endemic species of Annam Prinia...

  4. Black-collared Starling

    Black-collared Starling

High plateau bird photography: Black-collared Starling. This bird is usually kept in cages, at least since I was a kid, but it's the first time I've seen one in the wild. One trait that's hard to miss is how noisy they are—and even louder in the wild. It's a very smart bird.
  5. Blue-Winged Pitta

    Blue-Winged Pitta

This Blue-Winged Pitta bird has always been my favorite. It brings back so many memories, especially from the first video I made—a long story about a bird family nesting under the dense canopy of Cat Tien National Park during a heavy storm. https://youtu.be/qO1w3E02b6M
  6. Laced Woodpecker

    Laced Woodpecker

Visit the bird hide during the monsoon season for a peaceful experience. While fewer birds may be active, regular visitors can still be spotted, and some even have new fledglings! The surroundings may be wet and dim, but the soothing sounds of insects fill the air

Little predator Shikra attack the bird hide

By the end of peak bird season, I had a chance to capture birds from a photo blind. However, two Shikras kept attacking the birds at the hide. They didn't catch any, but their repeated attempts created a thrilling scene throughout the session while I was there.

Vietnam - Morning coffee within nature, watching coppersmith barbet in city park #birding #birdphotography

Chilling at the park, sipping on coffee at my favorite spot, and guess who drops by? A cheeky Coppersmith Barbet! This little birdie isn't shy at all, casually snacking right in front of us. Gotta love those urban birds, living their best life while we enjoy ours with a side of caffeine!

    Vietnam March 2024

I am going to be in Vietnam in March 2024, and would like to work on seeing the birds of Southern Vietnam, focusing on Cat Tien, Di Linh, and Dalat. I'm thinking 4 nights in Cat Tien, 1 night Di Linh, and 4 nights Dalat. I'm hoping to coordinate drivers (or a bus, but I prefer a scheduled...
