    well my friends I finally managed to get out with the camera last sunday,unfortunately it was a cold grey day,had a walk around mere sands wood and spotted this beauty at the feeding station,hope you like,john.

    Spotted this juvenile Water Rail at a local patch.It was a bit far off but still nice to see it struggling along the reeds.

    This is a double first really as this was the first time I had ever seen this skulking in and out bird, shows itself then disappears into the reeds!! Probably not quite so exotic as the others but a beauty none the less. One more first to come from "that day" Spent the whole day down...

    I hadn't seen a Water Rail for several months when two turned up at a local patch and amazingly were in the open for while.

    This Water Rail suddenly appeared near a hide at a local patch and surprisingly ventured out into the open for a time.

    At a local patch early in the morning in the undergrowth around what's no more than a large puddle I saw this Water Rail that was franticlly calling out to a couple of youngsters it had lost.It's rare for me to catch one in the open so I was pleased to get this shot.
