    Spotted the family while driving down a narrow country road. Luckily it wasn't too bothered by the car so I snapped it through the window braced against the top of the door.

    this swallow took a rest about 20 ft (6.5metres) from my car in light rain today. I thought I would use the full extent of the zoom so cranked it out to 60x for this head shot.

    this is one of a pair that were building a nest under the balcony of the cafe at the wetlands that I go to near Newcastle (Australia). As I was leaning on the railing and watching the ducks in the main pond it flew onto the railing beside me. I had to back up to get focus.

    in the first serious rain in Sydney for some months the swallows were out in the wetlands catching insects. This one was resting from his labors.

    this swallow came and sat near me during the last rays of the sun last night. I had to back up one foot to get a focus on him.
