Kingbird playing with his food :-O I took a whole burst series of this guy, something like four frames a second? This was shot 3. The next frame is pretty much identical to shots 1 and 2. I guess he just like playing with his food ;)
Western Kingbird (Tyrannus verticalis) Sexes similar. Another species that is having a bumper year in the Post Oak Savannah. Open manicured area with Post Oaks (Quercus stellata) at ca. 101 m (330 ft) elevation.
Tyrant King (Korean title is burned onto the wood as well) 16"x6" poplar wood burning, 05/2014. I made this after finishing up my magpie piece as I enjoyed the style and language usage. The bird is from a series of photos i took of kingbirds in my schools parking lot.
This past winter in Florida I came upon this bird for the first time. This not so great image is at least better than my first encounter a week or so earlier.
The newest arrival for this season, this bird was sitting at the top of a very tall pine tree. The dots around the bird are gnats which also attract our hummingbirds and swallows throughout the day.
This guy was sitting in the tree calling to the other members of his family. It was a very hot summer evening so the shade was so nice to sit in and take photos.
School is back in and life is crazy. I am hoping to find some time to see what I have missed. I have not even touched my camera for two weeks. Sorry but for now a drive by posting from the archives.lol
