    Western Diamondback Rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox: Viperidae) I was at the ranch for two days and each day I encountered a rattlesnake. This one came in to drink at one of the small ponds where I was set up.

    Taken at the Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline, San Leandro, CA, USA at about 100m. Odd bird: appeared to be "nesting" in the middle of a huge expanse of green/brown groundcover with his bright white self for all the raptors to see.
