A late Wheatear at Shingle Street

Perched on the housing of one of the fishing boat winches on Sizewell beach, the background colour is the now defunct Sizewell A power station

saw these little critters after kids had set fire to grass thought at first glance shrike got excited.

First time I've caught one of these reasonably close at hand.This was one of several seen on the open pasture near Castle Water, Rye. Presumably a juvenile moulting into it's adult plumage.

Well Peeps, I bussed it to Rye Harbour yesterday...I spent about five and a half hours out in the field. The weather was quite nice, albeit really windy, but it was great to be out in the elements.
