whimbrel

Just back from a vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Didn't spend a whole lot of time taking photo's. This guy seemed to be at the same spot on the beach every day I was there.

I liked the volcanic backdrop in this one. This is the same bird as the last one, I also have him with the sea as a backdrop which I will post later. Enjoy, Pete:t:

My 3rd new friend from the canaries:t: He was walking a lot closer to the fisherman than me so I worked on my fieldcraft and boy did it payoff. I hope you like these, Pete:t:

Here is another shot taken with Nigel Kiteley's equipment. Amazing what one can do with a 'pinched' camera :-O o:D Of course, it lacks the touch of his artistic skills and his famous backgrounds but I am very happy with the result, anyway. Thanks once more for coping with me, my friend!! :t:

On a dry perch at high tide.

Lots of whimbrel around the hides this morning.

I saw this guy along with five others eating away in a field--presumably in migration to wintering grounds to the south.

Walking along Titchwell Beach half a dozen of these babies were foraging along the foreshore.

I don't often get this close, or don't see them when I do, they blend in to the background very well. Whimbrels use that long curved bill to pull fiddler crabs and other small tidbits from their burrows,
