Another splendid birding day with Jefferson Ataviano and his wife Agatha. I finally got 45 lifers. Tomorrow back to work and Wednesday evening I'll fly back home.

Walking in the ombu woods on the shores of Castillos Lagoon in the Rocha Department of Uruguay, I found this beautiful heron perched in the top of one of the ombus.
Whistling Heron (Syrigma sibilatrix subsp. sibilatrix) Sexes similar. South Wild, south of Pocon, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Wetland adjacent to the Pixaim River within the surrounding cerrado at ca. 128 m (420 ft) elevation.
