    And another lifer :D White-fronted Terns. There were a whole flock of them, but I think this shot of just two out in front of the flock was the best I got.

    Great to see these Terns again on the beach at Te Awanga.

    Great to see the three species on the beach resting and bathing. They were attracted here to a large number of fish travelling along the beach.

    Nice and empty at the beach at Te Awanga, so the terns were able to settle on the foreshore.

    These White-fronted Terns were washing themselves in fresh water before returning to thier colony.

    This tern is still partly in its non-breeding plumage. It was standing on the edget of the tern colony.

    This is only the second year these terns have bred at Flat Rock. We are hoping they will keep on doing so.

    There are a number of species in this shot, Blac-backed Gulls, Red-billed Gulls, Gannets, and a White-fronted Tern. All these birds were taken on my Canon 50D, the 7D has been sent away with a faulty, misty viewing mirror.
