There was a tree on Cannock Chase with which was throbbing with croaking of several whitethroats as they fed off soldier beetles.

Well Peeps, We are back to reality today, but we had a great time away. We did Brownsea Island and Arne on the first leg. Did Radipole Lakes twice, Lodmoor and Portland Bill on the second leg. Also managed to treat Hazel to a day trip to Guernsey as a birthday...

Yep, it is what it says it is......

For the most part this bird was too high up in the treetops for me to get a sharp picture, but briefly, between the birchtop and the larchtop, it landed in this rosebush and this one shot seems sharp enough to identify. I think the light spot on its forehead may be just dappling of sunlight...

This was a close encounter with the signing star, had a good couple of hours as it perched up calling for a mate

Lol, waiting for a Sedge Warbler to appear, this chap popped up right in front of me, its nice to be lucky occasionally

I love these birds they are so obliging.

... Two days later this bird appeared in the tree in my front garden. It stayed there for hours and appeared again a couple of days later, but I haven't seen it since then.

I had a lot of difficulty finding Whitethroats this year so I traveled the 75 miles each way to Kenfig. Found lots there ...
